Casolare L'Arieta will appeal to those wanting a holiday in a quiet and peaceful setting surrounded by countryside and animals, but close to fascinating Umbrian towns and with the added interest of life on an Italian farm. The property is an ancient stone farmhouse, built at the end of the 1600's, located between Todi and Terni, close to the Roman Ruins at Carsulae.
At Casolare L'Arieta we are keen to create an environment of peace and tranquility, a place to rethink travel, respecting the environment, biodiversity and local culture. Casolare L'Arieta welcomes guests who want to experience the countryside in contact with animals, learn about and reap the fruits of the earth, to discover local specialties and participate in the places they visit, by meeting people, sharing their culture, local customs and traditions.
The idea that inspired us when deciding to open the farmhouse to guests, was to offer the opportunity to experience real Italian country life, in a place surrounded by nature, with a lot of animals (horses, cats, a dog, hens, ducks and a pet cow), surrounded by a blooming countryside where it is not rare to come across wild animals such as pheasants, hares, porcupines, foxes, badgers and a wide variety of birds.
From the farmhouse, walking through picturesque country roads, you can reach the archaeological Romansite of Carsulae and "La Romita" in Cesi, an hermitage dating from 1000 A.C. where St. Francis of Assisi used to live. Up to 10 km away, you can visit: the medieval town of San Gemini, Dunarobba Fossil Forest, the castles of Casigliano, Sismano and Mezzanelli, the Benedictine Abbeys of Villa San Faustino, of S. Fidenzio and Terenzio , Santa Illuminata and Santa Maria in Pantano, the Christian-Roman Catacombs of the third century BC, the Roman bridge called "Fonnaia", the San Gemini thermae and the San Faustino thermae. Within 10 to 40 km, the most famous towns in Umbria can be easily reached for half or full day trips: Perugia, Assisi, Spoleto, Todi, Orvieto, Narni, Bevagna, Montefalco, Deruta, Torgiano, Marmore Waterfalls and nature trails of Martani Mountains. Lake Trasimeno is 60 km away and Lake Piediluco is only 30 km away.
The area surrounding the farmhouse is also renowned for its typical products: oil, cheese, mushrooms, truffles, and wines such as Grechetto and Sagrantino.
